The Back of the Mind Issue - Inside Out 2 Theory | The Fangirl
Disney Pixar's Inside Out 2 is really well done overall, but the memory sphere's collecting in the back of Riley's mind wasn't addressed to my satisfaction! Uploaded June 26 at 2:40PM

    I feel like we just needed a line that the reason anxiety is so much more powerful for Riley than her parents is because of joys actions. So anxiety is essentially working double time to make up for joys repression

    Because Joy is a selfish emotion. You can put a smile on other people’ faces, but you do it firstly because you want to feel good about yourself. Although “selfishness” is not necessarily a bad thing. It depends on the context. Do you know who else thought they were “a good person”? Emperor Belos, to the point of deluding himself that he’s the hero of his own fantasy, just because said narrative doesn’t match with his heinous actions such as fraticide, genocide attempts, and crimes against his own kind

    OMG, this is why only MatPat can make a good theory. People dont think out side the box and take everything for what it is on the surface. If Coraline didn't escape, beacuse we know that the beldam needs to have the energy to make things, and beacuse Coraline escaped, she cant sustain the "fake other world" 😒 And we know the well never existed in the other world so the key is not going back to the other world. And miss Lovat wouldn't wanna feed the creature that killed her sister. So she didn't let Coraline to get eaten, she just let her live there. And the neighbours just live there, if we can't speak to them, why would we need ro see them. And the beldam couldn't make Coralines friends in the world beacuse the beldam uses the souls to make her pupets, mr. Bobinski is just a costume with rats in it, and miss Spink and Forcible are the souls of the two girls. The other father uses the soul of the boy, and in the book, the other Wybe doesn't exist. Why dont people think trough these clues. And the other mother can't create, she can only twist thing in the real world. Thats why she has the picture of Coralines friends. Please, just think trough the idea. 😒 And the other world is made to make Coraline stay in it forever. Not to have mistakes. And, girl you literally said that the film Coraline doesnt need buttons, please help urself 😭 The beldam uses the buttons to trap people and take their soles. And the soules are not able to give the energy if they arent in the beldams possession . And the ghoust childern say to get rid of the key so that the door cant be unlocked, and the banging stops when the beldams hands falls. And wybe probably was just cycling around. And Coralines parents are just happy that the book they wrote was successful. Omg my hand hurt from typing so much. And the cat is just tryng to help, and we dont see the beldam tryng to get the cat out beacuse the cat was never near her and she wanted to make this place perfect

    I don't think you can really call Joy a "villian". The emotions are a visualization of what's going on inside Riley's head, so things pointed to that make Joy a villian are really just Riley's character flaws and society as the villian. I think when her mom says "you've stayed our happy girl" that represents the true villian of Inside Out: society pushing false positivity and surpressing emotions (in some cases, joy included. If you're an adult and what brings you true joy isn't money, a large stadium event, or shall we say R rated adult time you get shunned by society-totally not letting my queer and neurodiverse van lifer roller coaster nerd that likes ghosts and abandoned places say that). Society is the villian of Inside Out, much like how it could be defined as a real world villian. Not any of the emotions.

    I disagree, I think that he loved them both. Or cared for them both. I believe he ended with Victoria because he deserves to have a life. And live the human experience. And Emily knew that. Emily loved him as well “if you love someone, let them go” I think that he had a connection with both of them in different ways He liked Victoria because for one (well she was actually alive) and they had a passion for similar things and clicked in those ways. But he also knew it was his duty. At first with Emily, I think he was scared of he. Because (she’s dead) but overtime they started to bond and just love and care for one another regardless of their differences, which is how I think that real love should be. Thats why he was willing to give up his life. He clearly loved them both. But Emily knew she needed to let him go, to live the life that he deserves, that she was never able to get. This isn’t even wanting him to marry Emily, I think it was beautiful he was able to reconnect with Victoria and to marry her, but if you acknowledge the facts, he never chose Victoria, it was an arranged marriage, and he began to fall in love with her because he knew he didn’t really have a choice, with Emily, he was scared at first, but slowly started to fall in love regardless of her being dead, THATS real love.

    Joy was always toxic, objectively in the wrong during the first movie via suppressing sadness, she just evolved into a new type of toxicity after she realized she needed sadness to occur. Can't wait for inside out 3 where Joy tries to become a dictator and specifically control every action of the other emotions, while Pride comes in after winning an important hockey game; who wants Joy's role as dictator for itself and there's a civil war in Riley's mind and all the worker blobs start forming troops to try to subdue the emotions and we meet the employer of all these blobs: Subconscious.

    I feel like the second film could have focused more on Joy trying to take more of a backseat. As Riley gets older, she becomes more frustrated with the changes in her life, prompting a greater need for the other emotions. So, when her puberty starts to affect the console, it ends up enhancing the other emotions but barely works for Joy.

    I’ve seen this movie multiple times but I was always left confused. I know that Sharon would have dreams and sleep walk but I felt this was a calling for her to come back to bring “peace” and get the revenge that alessa always wanted. Rose being a loving mother who would do anything for Sharon was a great “decoy” for the demon to get attached to and into the church where everyone would hide. In the beginning both rose and the cop got into an accident before waking up into this alternate ashy dimension. Just like you’ve mentioned the bike accident looked like the kind where you wouldn’t expect someone to walk away from so I always assumed that they all died. But when bodies weren’t found where the accident took place maybe they were all unconscious and slept walk into silent hill and like the old man at the car shop mentioned to the dad apparently the fumes from the fire underground could kill you maybe that’s what killed them? And that’s why they were trapped in this different dimension? Towards the end when rose told Sharon to close her eyes but she opened them and saw the demon I felt the demon did what she needed to do and reunited with Sharon to basically recreate alessa where she could live a life with rose and finally have a loving mother who was strong and could protect her? This is my understanding from the movie and btw I’ve never played the game

    It's a mirror to the first film. In the moment it DOES seem like a good idea. These are unpleasant memories that don't seem to help so why not just put them away for now. But Joy herself realizes this is doing the exact same thing Anxiety is doing : choosing what Riley gets to be. It's why after going on that adventure and plugging in the old sense of self, Joy rips it out to let Riley form her own.

  • @nicolassanchez3047
    @nicolassanchez3047 День тому

    I mean yeah, Joy is seeing herself as THE best emotion. That was the lession she had to learn in the first movie with Sadness and she had to learn here that she can't frame Riley's sense of self all alone. (Just like Anxiety did) But I think that trial and error of Joy does so much of the storytelling with all the metaphors and the journey the viewers go on with her

    • @tmm4195
      @tmm4195 20 годин тому

      Joy is the protagonist, but they didn’t paint the negative emotions as antagonists necessarily. In fact, in the first movie Joy is both the protagonist and antagonist. She’s the main character, but in the first movie she is also causing all the problems. Not intentionally of course. The end of the 1st movie and the whole second movie does a really good job showing all emotions have a job that serves a purpose

    • @soulslvr9562

      @tmm4195 fear disgust sadness and anger are not negative emotions the only negative emotion is hate. It depends on how you use them. I have a fan theory: Gepetto's son didn't die by an illness. He maybe went to Pleasure Island. Maybe he was kidnapped by the Coachman, and being the innocent kid he was, he was also peer pressured to go. Gepetto specifically says - when he goes to search for Pinocchio - that the last time he did that was when he... he doesnt end his sentence, but who knows, maybe he was referring to the time he was searching for his first son. When Gepetto sees the Pleasure Island poster he freaks out. That means people know what a terrible place it is. Gepetto might have heard those rumors and his reaction might be a "Not Again" sentiment as he also believed that this was the cause his biological son disappeared. And lastly, i believe that his wife Constanza might had died of her sorrow about this situation. Sad.

    I first saw this movie in the spring of 1955, when my (elementary) school presented it as an end-of-the-year treat for us kids.(There was only one projector, so from time to time, the show would stop while the person in charge rewound the film and threaded the next reel so that the movie could proceed.) The following year, it was shown at our local theater -- uninterrupted! I grew up in a village that was all-white, all-Catholic-and-mainstream-Protestant, and not until I was about 18-19 did I get to actually know any black people, so I was never a racist. So, if there was anything overtly racist about this film, I totally missed it. In fact, the scene that bothered me the most was the one in which Ginnyś nasty brothers harassed her and Johnny, and Uncle Remus came along, broke up the fight and sent the wrongdoers on their way. The great Hattie McDaniel virtually reprised her Oscar-winning role as Mammy, but this time, we hear her sing! Great! The animated sections, of course, were the highlights of the film. I think Disney could have avoided a lot of trouble if he'd included in the opening credits a date, so that it would be clear to the audience that it was taking place AFTER the Civil War and that the black people in it were not slaves. In any case, I hope Disney will some day reconsider releasing this film on DVD or Blu-ray, and resist the temptation to "edit" it to appease the naysayers. It deserves it!

    How about making a movie without the "male gaze" or the "female gaze". Whatever gender is attached to the word "gaze" implies some kind of twisted perversion, or gender imbalance. I'm the "A" in LGBTQIA. That stands for "asexual" for those who don't know. We are like genderless children or robots. "Gender gaze" of any type is uncomfortable to us. It's time for us to rise up and loudly whisper our objections!

    Those old women have small dogs that they probably can’t take outside as often as the dogs would like. They do not want gross carpet.

    I believe some commenters mentioned that she is a virgin if so Then Gaston would be a virginity swiper and due to his toxic masculinity and huge ego to feed he always try to come on top and showing off how manly he is which is really awful Especially for Belle
